memorial day weekend

I love three day weekends. I woke up this morning and thought, "uh, its monday. sad." and then I realized, "No! It's tuesday! This is going to be the best week ever." And that is only one of the reasons why I love three day weekends.

We started the weekend off with dinner and movie. We are trying to take advantage of Sydney's age and the fact that she will almost sleep anywhere. We put her in her PJ's, swaddled her, gave her a bottle as the movie started, and she fell asleep and she didn't wake up until the next morning. It was great. I realize these days will be coming to end real soon here and it makes me anxious to get it all in while we can. Anyway, we went to see Water For Elephants, which I actually liked a lot.

On saturday we went to the beach and then we attended Daxton's "cops and robbers" 1st birthday party. About 20 minutes before the party started, Christian and I were taking a nap. Waking up from a dead sleep, his first words:
Christian: "Courtney, do you have a long-sleeved black turtle neck"?
me: "yes".
Christian: "do you have black leggings"?
me: "maternity leggings."
Christian: "I have the perfect robber costume."

So Christian shows up in full spandex. Head to toe. He claimed that he was a "sophisticated ninja robber". We definitely got looks as we walked in. It was amazing.

Monday was our anniversary! We had a low-key day, but it was perfect. We went up to Laguna to meet up with Britini and Jay and some of their friends and family. We stopped at La Sirena grill to grab lunch before we headed to the beach. Kevin Bacon and his wife walked in right after us and were standing behind us in line. Christian, saw them walking in and goes, "Courtney, Kevin Bacon is walking in."  I immediately reply, "Who is Kevin Bacon"? I recognized his name, but I had NO IDEA what he looked like or what he has been in. Christian was so disappointed. After we got home from the beach, Christian set up a pallet on the floor and made us watch "The river wild".  And I'll be honest, I didn't love it, but I we had so much fun watching it together.

We dropped Sydney off with some of our friends last night and went to get a little sushi to celebrate 2 years!

growing up

Sydney's newest trick: She stands! She obviously has the ottoman for back support, but she has pretty strong little legs and good balance.

She has also learned to hold her own bottle, which has been a life-saver SO many times.

serious catch up

here are some random pictures from the last month.

                                                                   Girl's night out!

Christian's favorite thing to do with Sydney: make a pallet on the floor and read books or                watch a movie. They do it often.

couldn't love her more

I love this baby girl. Thank you to Kate for snapping this picture. It's one of my very favorite. This was taken at London's 1st birthday party.  Definitely the cutest 1st birthday party I've ever been to.

san diego zoo

First of all, I love giraffes. I think they are the coolest animal ever.

Moving on..

Britni, Ashley and their boys came down from Laguna last tuesday to go to the zoo with Sydney, London and me. It was an awesome experience. It was the first time I've ever been to the SD Zoo and I've always heard it was something that I had to do. I can now happily check it off my list.

How cute is Ashley? Are you kidding me? She is 6 months pregnant, by the way. You can't even TELL. It is just simply not fair. But I love her so much that I think she deserves it.
                                                     Sydney LOVES ashley. A lot.
This is such and Ashley face that I just had to throw it in here.

Sydney and I were lucky enough to steel London for the day and take her to the zoo with us. It was my first experience as a mom of two. Luckily, these two girls were nearly PERFECT all day.

I was using Kate's stroller (London's mom) and Sydney was too small for the sitting straight up seat and London wasn't loving sitting in the back and not being able to see so much. So, I figured out that if Sydney could fit in the luggage carrier, she would be happy to lay down. It worked like a charm. However, as soon as people would spot Sydney down below, they would give me "what an abusive mother you are" look. It was pretty funny. Despite the looks, I couldn't have been more proud of myself for figuring this situation out.

It was a great day at the zoo!
